Maddie Rose Hills - Biography

Graduating in 2015 from The University of West England with a first class honors degree Maddie Rose Hills went on to undertake an Icelandic artist residency had has exhibited internationally with subsequent shows in Barcelona, Paris and London, positioning herself as one to watch in the Contemporary Art world.

Attributing her appreciation for the arts to her mother, Maddie began to make work at an early age building a body of representational and figurative work, which has evolved and abstracted organically over time through her interest and exploration of media.  Encompassing a mass of texture and colour inspired by vast natural landscapes the oversize visceral canvases she has become known for extend from the allure of play and experimentation and aim to draw the viewer in with their unearthly beauty. Captivatingly curious the urge to inspect the lava like surfaces of her works is irresistible; where surging, seething, swirling patterns materialsie and highlight the acute awareness and attention to detail in her work.
