Sitting pretty in a spectacular white and pink Miu Miu hat, painted lady Jennifer Lawrence steals the show with her portrait appearing not one, not two, not even three, but four times as the cover girl for the Vogue 125th anniversary issue…

While the magazine may have turned to the likes of Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali (who designed four Vogue covers in as many decades) for the front-cover artwork in years gone by, Lawrence’s painted portrait marks the first time the brush strokes of any artist have made the cover of the coveted September issue.

Mannerist in pose and minimal in perspective, paired with a rococo palette the many artistic influences of the man behind the brush are evident, yet famed for his often erotic painting US born John Currin departed from his usual style in the name of propriety, telling The New York Times, ‘to be in a situation of producing a cover for this famous magazine, I’m a little scared…I do worry about decorum’.
