POSTED: Tuesday, October 15, 2019

Coffee breaks have got even better at Loughran Gallery thanks to the arrival of the latest issue of the Copenhagen-based Ark Journal, which is out now.

Capturing the essence of Scandinavian values and aesthetics, this biannual magazine serves up original photography, insightful commentary and outstanding design on each of its 240 pages. It’s as beautifully crafted as the spaces and objects that it features and Volume II offers even more from its impressive team of designers, stylists, photographers and editors.

For autumn/winter, Editor-in-Chief Mette Barfod and the team explore how architecture evolves and frames our existence, and the interplay of art, design and architecture.

Each issue, the team visits a number of public figures in their private spaces around the world and considers how the extraordinary homes express the personal narratives of the people who live in them, their philosophies and influences. In Volume II, Danish Vietnamese artist Danh Vo invites readers into his Berlin apartment and country home, and Max Lamb discusses how materials dictate his designs during a tour of his London workshop.

After also delving into the archives of the Danish modernist Jørn Utzon, the team visits two of his rarely shown houses that show his genius for designing homes that enrich their inhabitants’ lives. Acclaimed photographer François Halard also shares his personal portfolio of interiors and architecture. You won’t be able to put it down!
