While most galleries shut down for the summer, Loughran Gallery’s summer stepped into full bloom with the announcement of its Summer Show. Featuring exclusive new works, the Summer Show also introduced two new artists to the Loughran Gallery rostrum: Charlie Barton and the Dutch taxidermy team Darwin, Sinke and van Tongeren.

Charlie Barton’s oil on canvas pieces explore the very fabric of life, portraying elements of the cosmos and phenomena of the universe, capturing the eye of astronomer Sir Patrick Moore who said: “"I’ve been looking at the moon all my life, but always as a scientist. Charlie shows the moon in a new perspective, she makes the lure of the moon even more irresistible."

Darwin, Sinke and van Tongeren is the trade name of Dutch master taxidermists Jaap Sinke and Ferry van Tongeren, who were inspired to create their photographic editions by the natural poses their specimens formed during the taxidermy process. First coming to London just last year, they soon made an impact as Damien Hirst snapped up a large amount of their debut photographic series, Darwin’s Menagerie, for his personal Murderme collection.

The Summer Show was complete with new works by pop artist Dave White, whose Elephant oils made a much heralded return, as well as from natural artist Nick Jeffrey, whose contemporary twist on the collectors’ butterfly box has mesmerised Belgravia, with all works from Loughran Gallery’s previous show finding new homes in the area.
