Ed Sheeran ÷ Damien Hirst


Nearly three years since the release of his last album the wait is almost over with Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) ready to drop on Friday 3rd of March; with the launch of his latest acoustic offerings imminent, Sheeran revealed that he’d created the album artwork in the studio of contemporary artist Damien Hirst.

"He just left me in there with a load of paint and I just threw it on this spin machine and created my album cover," he explained.

In contrast to the singular symbol album title ÷ Hirst’s spin paintings are usually characterised by the their elongated titles which begin with Beautiful and end in Painting, much like the Berlin-made ‘Beautiful, pop, spinning ice creamy, whirling expanding painting’.

In the run up to the albums release it has also been announced that Hirst has designed the Shape Of You Singer’s latest tattoo; ''Damien has drawn my next tattoo so I'm going to get that done," Ed told The Sun on Sunday "It's a skull, it's very cool".
