biography

Jessica Zoob trained at Central School of Art and at Nottingham University, during which time she travelled extensively, spending time on research in China and exploring other parts of Indonesia.

For seven years after graduating, she worked as a theatre designer at countless venues including the Bristol Old Vic, the Royal National Theatre and Greenwich Theatre. Jessica has worked exclusively as a British contemporary artist from her Lewes home and studio since the year 2000. She exhibits regularly in and around London and has works in private collections worldwide. Recent commissions include The Lancasters, Hyde Park and NEO Bankside on the South Bank. In 2013 Zoob started a collaborative project with renowned textile company Romo and its Black Edition design house. The project has seen Zoob’s designs taken across the globe, with pattern Big Smile winning the Elle Decoration British Design Award for Best British Pattern in November 2014.

In addition to private commissions and high-profile collaborations, Jessica has also had major collections shown at esteemed locations across London. Zoob joined Loughran Gallery in 2013 with her landmark solo exhibition Dancing with Colour, which was held at Albion Riverside, Battersea. The critically-acclaimed show marked Jessica Zoob as one of the most exciting British artists and lead to her second solo exhibition, Playtime, with Loughran Gallery, Motcomb Street, Belgravia.

Zoob’s travels to China, Indonesia and beyond are continual inspirations in her painting method, with the landscape surrounding her Sussex home acting as a constant muse.
