I Want More Time With You
Tracey Emin’s commission for the Terrace Wires public art programme – one of the country’s most ambitious, with new work commissioned every year to hang for six months beneath the iconic DENT clock – is set to go on show on the 10th April 2018.
Chosen by a panel tasked to hand pick the submission most inspired by the iconic stations architecture and history, Emin will follow in the footsteps of Lucy+Jorge Orta, David Batchelor and Cornelia Parker RA and her planned 20-meter artwork will hang from wires beneath the beautiful Grade 1 listed shed roof, which itself was considered a marvel of engineering and work of art when it was built in 1868.
I Want More Time With You will be Emin’s largest text-based installation ever and marks not only the fourth year of the stations public art partnership with the Royal Academy, but also the 250th anniversary of the RA and the 150th anniversary of the St Pancras International station.
With this magnificent space as the backdrop for her installation, an exciting juxtaposition between old and new will add another dimension to Emin’s specially designed piece, which will be free for the 48 million people that pass through the station each year to enjoy! Watch this space.
